Bison Precast provided a variety of precast concrete units for a 1,032 space multi storey car park, including retail space, in Stafford, for PCE Structures Ltd.
The structure, which now stands as one of the largest buildings in Stafford’s town centre, was erected in just 27 weeks. The high level of quality control enabled by the offsite manufacture of the units, contributed towards the reduced programme time of the project.
Bison Precast manufactured 130 portal frame modules, which were based on the PCE Contiframe structural system, as well as 300 beams, 250 wall panels and 150 columns for the project, totalling more than 1,800m3 of concrete over a period of seven months.
The city centre location, close to the River Sow, meant tight site boundary constraints for the project. By employing offsite construction techniques the number of vehicle deliveries to site was kept to a minimum, dramatically reducing potential traffic congestion risks.
