Forterra supports Peterborough Patient Group

We have recently donated £400 to Lakeside Healthcare Patient Group in Peterborough to go towards the purchase of additional medical equipment to help with the continued care of their patients.

Lakeside Healthcare Patient Group Peterborough is a group of patients who work with the doctors at the GP Surgery, Lakeside Healthcare Yaxley, to benefit the ongoing healthcare of the local community. Representing the interests of around 18,500 patients in Yaxley, the group worked with the practice team to identity the additional equipment needed.

Forterra’s donation saw the Patient Group able to purchase three paediatric oximeters, seven finger oximeters ranging from adult to children and a wood lamp for skin analysis. The new equipment supports the groups aims to provide the local area with better healthcare.

The wood lamp can help clinicians to diagnose skin conditions such as fungal infections, vitiligo, pigment disorders and cancer, which may not be visible to the naked eye. This can lead to faster and more accurate diagnoses, allowing the medical team to prescribe appropriate treatment at an earlier stage.

The paediatric clinical grade oximeters measure the oxygen saturation levels in blood. This can help clinicians detect respiratory distress or other conditions that may require urgent treatment. Early detection can lead to faster intervention, reducing the risk from complications and hospitalisation. The fingertip oximeters can be loaned to patients for self-monitoring and peace of mind at home.

The project is to benefit all patients in the catchment area including all employers staff who have access to the doctor’s practice.

Paul Underwood, Chair of the Peterborough patient group, said: “We could not have done this without the help of Forterra. It will allow earlier diagnosis and treatment in the practice, which could lead to a reduced need to refer on to the hospital, saving time and resources for patients and the NHS. The PPG and practice team would like to express their thanks for this donation, which will help all patients and enhance patient care at Yaxley.”

Caroline Wildman, Marketing Director at Forterra said, “It’s great to see the donation to the Peterborough Patient Group go towards much needed medical equipment. We’re delighted to support them in continuing to provide the best health care for their patients.”
