Case study Moredon Leisure Centre

Bison Precast concrete products were specified by Pellikaan Construction Ltd for the new £12m Moredon Leisure Centre in London. Designed by GT3 Architects, measures were taken to ensure the development complies with London’s sustainability requirements, including provision of solar panels, car charging facilities and a wadi for storage of excess rainwater.

The new facility will replace the 1960s Morden Park Pools and includes a 25m six-lane pool; a large second pool with a moveable floor for diving, aqua aerobics, parent and toddler classes; a fitness suite with approximately 100 stations; a large studio/community room and a café. The centre opened in Autumn 2018.

Bison Precast supplied the column plinth supports for the exterior of the building. Some of these plinths incorporated cut-outs to accommodate the rainwater downpipes. Bison Precast’s Project Manager Mark Shepherd commented: “We were delighted to have been appointed to be part of this project.
